From his first appearance in 1940 to Heath Ledger's mesmerizing film portrayal of the character in 2008, The Joker is arguably the most interesting and enduring character in mainstream superhero comics. Join PNCA comics studies professor Trevor Dodge for a multi-modal lecture and discussion exploring the philosophical, political and literary lineage of a character who personifies the darkest of human desires, and in doing so, ironically liberates us to imagine our world anew.
