Okay, now, take this with a grain of salt, as I'm a non-drinking, non-smoking early-thirties-going-on-middle-ager, but one of my favorite things to do in Portland is visit Voodoo Doughnut, an all-night doughnut shop downtown. I don't do it often, but when I've got late-night-type guests in town, that's always the first item on my to-do-list.
You might also check out Reading Frenzy, PDX's best shop for small press comics and zines.

I'll second the Voodoo Donuts recommendation! I've put away way too many of them!
Also, not sure if there are any vegetarians other than my wife and I among the Comics Fest masses, but Portland is an excellent town for us non-meat-eating folks! A start is Veganopolis, across the river from the Convention Center. They have an excellent brunch on Saturday, and it opens at 9am, so you can swing by before the Fest opens at 10!

Alberta St. is about less then 10 mins away from where stump town is held this year. Its a cute street full of coffe, tea, thia food, craft stores, libations and a great Portland feel. Houses are dotted inbetween stores (including mine, i love it here).
The Tin Shed is way popular place to have breakfast/brunch, usually a long line (about a 30min waite if your in the brunch crowd) but great food. The stores are located between Ne 10th Ave to about Ne 30th Ave.which is a hop, skip and a jump from the lolyd center.
If your looking for a great place to maybe have some dinner or a quicker lunch you MUST go to the McMenamins Kennedy school. Its a local brew pub chain in an old country school house. There are three dollar movies at night where you sit in comfy couches drinking beer or eating pizza (both if you're so inclined.) A number of diferent bars the building, it's also a hotel, there's a "soaking" pool, its got so much stuff, it is a great place just to explore. Its located off of 33rd Ave. and again is less then 15 mins away from where stump town is held this year.
Hope this helps!
