Every Wednesday, join us as we highlight and celebrate a guest for the 2013 Stumptown Comics Festival. This week we turn our attention to Chynna Clugston Flores.
With an art style heavily influence by late era Japanese Manga and mid-century Mod esthetics, Chynna Clugston Flores made an immediate impression upon her graduation from the Yosemite High. Submitting her early work to Fantaco, Chynna garnered the writing and penciling duties on the miniseries Bloodletting. Her work drew the attention of editor Jamie Rich at Oni Press, where she went on to create the Eisner Award nominated series, Blue Monday. Also with Oni Press, Chynna followed up Blue Monday with the critically acclaimed series Scooter Girl, named by Ain't It Cool News as one of the best comics of the 2000s. In January, 2013, Chynna returns to working with Jamie Rich as she pencils It Girl! and the Atomics #6 for Image Comics.
