Hey does anyone have any info about crossing the border?

I hear stories of very inconsistent behavior by US border officials. Many are just waived through, but I've also heard about people having all their books confiscated or being hit with massives fees, if their books are discovered.

Does anyone actually know the proper legal way to import books into the US?

I am tired of spending extra money on shipping them ahead of me, and I hate the anxiety of crossing the border with merch.

Does anyone have any advice?
