2013 Stumptown Comics Fest Guest Profile - Justin Jordan

Calling the rural countrysides of Pennsylvania his home, Justin Jordan made a strong debut in the world of comics with The Strange Talent of Luther Strode. The six-issue miniseries went on to become one of the highest acclaimed books of 2011 and a top-seller for Image Comics. The series cemented Justin Jordan as a fresh voice within comics. While writing for multiple comic book anthologies, Jordan launched the series Team 7 and is slated to begin work on Deathstroke, both for DC Comics. Jordan is currently writing The Legend of Luther Strode, the follow-up to his Image hit, as well writing Shadowman from Valiant Entertainment, . Every Wednesday, join us as we highlight and celebrate a guest for the 2013 Stumptown Comics Festival. This week we turn our attention to Jen Van Meter.
Earning a Bachelors degree in English, and a Masters degree in Folklore and Literature, Van Meter took her knowledge and transformed it into an Eisner nominated career that started in 1998. Writing for the Dark Horse Presents annual, Jen Van Meter wrote the very first comic book appearance for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This led to her work at Oni Press where she created and wrote the award-winning series Hopeless Savages. Van Meter has produced work for many of the major comic book publishers, include Marvel Comics, DC Comics / Vertigo, and Dynamite Entertainment. As Portland continues to grow as one of the countries biggest comic book cities, so too does the cooperative nature of creation. Formed in 2009, Tranquility Base is the home to some of comics fastest rising stars. 2013 Stumptown Comics Fest Guest Profile - Chynna Clugston Flores
Every Wednesday, join us as we highlight and celebrate a guest for the 2013 Stumptown Comics Festival. This week we turn our attention to Chynna Clugston Flores.
With an art style heavily influence by late era Japanese Manga and mid-century Mod esthetics, Chynna Clugston Flores made an immediate impression upon her graduation from the Yosemite High. Submitting her early work to Fantaco, Chynna garnered the writing and penciling duties on the miniseries Bloodletting. Her work drew the attention of editor Jamie Rich at Oni Press, where she went on to create the Eisner Award nominated series, Blue Monday. Also with Oni Press, Chynna followed up Blue Monday with the critically acclaimed series Scooter Girl, named by Ain't It Cool News as one of the best comics of the 2000s. In January, 2013, Chynna returns to working with Jamie Rich as she pencils It Girl! and the Atomics #6 for Image Comics.
